The GENESIS System...
Open up a whole new world in automated Time & Attendance. |
The GENESIS automated Time & Attendance Software Package is
designed to be a simple to use and cost effective system which fully
automates your time & attendance needs as well as other needs such
as job costing, data collection, access control, bell ringing, and much
more. GENESIS utilizes the latest advancements in data base programming
technology to bring you the fastest and most sophisticated time &
attendance data collection system.
The standard GENESIS time & attendance system automatically
calculates employee time and wages using your specific payroll policies.
In addition, GENESIS produces valuable management reports which help
control overpayment of employees and distribution of labor. By using the
optional GENESIS Job Costing Module, job labor costs may be forecasted
and then compared to actual totals. This full featured and comprehensive
management tool will help you gain greater control over productivity and
provide the accuracy needed in your business operations.
The GENESIS automated Time & Attendance system is an easy to use
time management tool which enables you to automate:
- Employee Time Collection and Calculation
- The Application of Payroll Policies
- Attendance Tracking
- Employee Benefit Accruals
- Gross Wage Calculation
- Distribution of Personnel by Department, Job, Step, and Operation
- Costing by Department, Job, Step, and Operation
- Report Generation
- Data Input for Payroll Processing
- Interface for Third Party Payroll Services
- Employee Messaging
- Access Control
- Bell Ringing
- Data Collection for Other Systems such as Inventory Control
GENESIS is completely menu driven. All processes are clearly marked
and follow a common operating thread throughout. For ease of operation,
the system allows each user to arrange the system's sorting and browse
window display order. This allows each user to arrange the information
in an order that is convenient for them. For example, one user may want
the employee selection listings to sort employees by last name while
another may want to sort by employee number.
GENESIS comes standard as a single-user system. Optionally, an
unlimited number of users may be added. The system is compatible with
most ethernet networks, including Novell®
and Microsoft NT®. The basic system
settings can be customized for each user. Each user can have their own
color set, printer configuration, display settings, etc.
GENESIS allows you to quickly scroll through and edit an employee's
schedule. Once an employee schedule is set, the system remembers it so
you never have to key in the schedule again. "Global
Scheduling" lets you schedule groups of employees in one simple
step. GENESIS also allows you to copy an existing schedule and apply it
to an individual or to a group of employees. GENESIS makes applying
rotating schedules quick and easy.
GENESIS will generate over 20 different listings on everything from
Employee addresses to your Main Company setup.
GENESIS will generate up-to-date reports on everything from Annual
Attendance to Who's Not In today. All of GENESIS' reports can be
modified using its built-in Report Editor. This means you can change any
report to match your Time & Attendance needs.
GENESIS prevents over-payment for long lunches and breaks. Automatic
lunch and break deductions may be taken based on elapsed time worked or
during a specific window of time. Rounding can also be set up to dock
for long lunches and breaks preventing payment for time not worked. In
other words, you may require that employees punch in and out for lunches
and breaks, deduct for late punches, or establish allotted windows of
time for lunches and breaks and deduct the time automatically. This will
prevent overpayment to employees who don't take the full time allotted
for lunches and breaks.
GENESIS will support both fixed and floating shifts. Employees may
either be assigned a specific start and stop time, or they may punch in
and out randomly. Rounding rules can be setup around start/stop times or
the actual punch time to avoid overpaying employees. Attendance codes
are applied to each segment of the shift rounding segment to track
employee's compliance with shift start/stop times.
GENESIS supports an unlimited number of shifts. Unusual shifts
schedules with staggered start times are easily handled.
GENESIS supports an unlimited number of rounding rules. Rounding can
be defined around the actual IN/OUT punches, or total worked time
duration. Different rounding rules can be applied to the IN/OUT punches,
lunch punches, and break punches.
Employees can be assigned multiple wages, one for each department,
job, step, or operation worked.
Salaried employee hours can be reported from actual, scheduled, or a
set amount. Salaried employees can be required to punch IN, both IN and
OUT, or not punch at all.
GENESIS supports three levels of overtime on both a daily and pay
period basis. You can pay overtime if a specific day of the week is
worked. Overtime can also be defined based on in punches during a
certain time of day, number of consecutive days worked, and for time
worked outside the schedule. Shift differentials can also be calculated.
Overtime can be paid on a weekly, bi-weekly, or semi-monthly basis.
Semi-monthly overtime carryover is also supported.
All data is available at any time for reporting. The amount of
historical data that the system will keep is limited only by the size of
your hard drive. Previous data can be compressed and archived to save
disk space.
GENESIS supports weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly pay
periods. Employees on different pay periods can all run concurrently on
the same system.
When using multiple data collection terminals with GENESIS, an
employee can punch at any of these terminals. An employee can punch IN
at one terminal, transfer departments at another, then drive 40 miles
and clock OUT at a remote location. If punching at multiple locations is
not desired, the ACCESS module allows the terminal to limit accepted
punches to certain employees.
The optional Profile Lockout Module helps GENESIS pay for itself in a
short period of time. Once a profile has been created, employees are
prevented from punching outside of their scheduled work times. However,
supervisors may be allowed to override the lockout to allow overtime.
Customized messages can be displayed at the terminal to inform employees
why they were locked out. For example, "YOU'RE TOO EARLY",
"NOT SCHEDULED", "SEE SUPERVISOR", or "START AT
8:00 AM"
GENESIS contains two online punch editors - "Online Time
Card" and "Approval". Both allow you to edit the
employee's punch information right on the employee's time card. The
Approval Editor automatically displays only those employees with missing
punches needing approval. Both editors contain a Benefit Entitlement
window which allows you to see if an employee has a particular benefit
available to them before it is given. This eliminates overpayment of
employee benefits.
The GENESIS Transaction editor provides a simple means of correcting
wrong punches and adding new ones by scrolling through existing
transactions. The Browse editor also allows you to enter and edit
transactions that are not time & attendance related. First, by using
the system's flexible terminal programming, you can configure the
terminal to collect any type of data. Then, through the Browse editor,
you can edit the data. Finally (if necessary), the system's Export
Function can send it to another software package. These and many other
features can turn your time & attendance system into a powerful data
collection system.
Each user must enter a Login name and Password before they can access
the GENESIS system. The system can limit the user to certain menus, what
they can do while in a given window (add, edit, delete, view, etc.), and
which employees they can access.
Another attractive feature of GENESIS is the ability to change the
names of key fields and automatically have all the menus and reports
change to reflect the new name. For example, if your company doesn't
have "Departments", but has "Cost Centers", simply
change the name "Department" to "Cost Centers" and
all references to departments will change to Cost Centers.
GENESIS allows you to define six system fields in the employee's
master record. These fields can be used to track items such as
birthdays, spouse's name, license number, emergency number, etc.
GENESIS comes standard with an export feature that
allows you to send data to an in-house payroll system. Direct imports to
many popular payroll services are also included with the system:
- Accpac®
- ADP® (Versions 5, 6 and Windows)
- Attache Payroll®

The Job Costing & Validation Module enables you to accurately
track items and labor costs and distribute them by department, job,
step, and operation. It allows for a more detailed breakdown of cost
information which can be reported in both hours and dollars. The four
job costing levels can be renamed to fit your company's needs. This
module also helps you eliminate the input of invalid data by allowing
you to define the valid department, job, step, or operation numbers for
a given employee. When the employee enters an invalid number at the
terminal, the message "INVALID ENTRY" is displayed and the
employee is prompted to re-key the number.
The Bell Control Module allows you to define bell ringing schedules
and prompt terminals to activate a user supplied bell, alarm, or other
audible signaling device. Each bell can be defined by the day-of-week
and time-of-day as well as the duration of the ring. GENESIS can ring up
to 336 bells per terminal, per week.
The Access Control & Profile Lockout Module allows you to define
intervals of time in which employees can enter a punch at the terminal.
You can lockout or warn employees who attempt to punch IN or OUT at
times other than their scheduled shifts. This module provides control of
punching by time of day and day of week. Supervisors can be allowed to
override these lockouts if desired. This module also allows you to
lockout unauthorized personnel. An employee's access can be restricted
to certain locations. With the use of this module, schedules may be
downloaded to each terminal controlling the actual time-of-day and
day-of-week that the employee is allowed access.
The Benefit Accruals Module allows you to automatically update
employee's benefit balances based on your companies current rules.
GENESIS supports a number of accrual cycles and allows for changes to
employee's accumulators based on their tenure. GENESIS also allows
forecasting of benefits such as Vacation to prevent over-drawn benefit
balances.
The optional Occurrence Rating Module tracks whichever negative
attendance occurrences you define and generates employee notices with
custom messages.
